In Memory Of
TERRY A. DAVIS
1969 – 2018

Terry Davis built TempleOS by himself. Twelve years. A whole operating system, a new language, a compiler, a kernel, an IDE, games, music tools. Alone.

Most people found out about him through clipped videos and memes. That was the easier version of Terry. The real one was stranger and sadder and more impressive than any of that.

He believed the random output of a computer was God talking. Not metaphorically. He would sit and read whatever came up. Words. Numbers. Garbage characters. He took it seriously.

I do too, a little. This app is just that idea, cleaned up enough to put on a phone. You press a button. The machine picks something. Maybe it means nothing. Maybe it means something.

Terry deserved better than he got. Rest easy.

VoxDei is an independent tribute. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected to the TempleOS project, any archive, or the Davis estate.
